For greater comfort on board and to ensure you are sitting next to family and friends, Iberia Express offers all passengers the chance to choose their seat even sooner.

In order to check the requirements, please select the relevant fare option below.

You can reserve your seat online when purchasing your ticket or when Checking-in online 24 hours before your flight departs.

Iberia Express may modify seat assignments due to operational, security or management reasons.

When you travel in Business Class on Iberia Express, you can select your seat in advance and completely free of charge. You can do so at any point from the time you book until your ticket is issued.

Economy XL seats are also available to allow passengers to enjoy even more space and enhanced levels of comfort. These seats are situated in the emergency exit rows, so passengers seated there must able to assist the crew in the event of an emergency and meet a number of requirements.

To secure your Economy XL seat, be sure to purchase one while making your booking or during Online Check-In, for an additional fee. You can do so up to 24 hours before your scheduled departure time:

Economy seats XL can be reserved in advance and completely free of charge by: 

  • Customers travelling with the Flex fare.
  • Customers with certain corporate rates.
  • Iberia Singular, Iberia Plus Platinum and Gold or oneworld Emerald and Sapphire cardholders.

 

Emergency exit row requirements:

  • For safety reasons, passengers with reduced mobility cannot be seated in emergency exit rows. These seats are also restricted to passengers who can understand safety instructions (both written and oral, in Spanish or English).
  • They must also be strong enough to operate the emergency exit door and be willing to help if necessary.
  • They must be over 15.

 

Under no circumstances may an exit row seat be reserved by:

  • Passengers who have difficulty moving quickly because of stature, build, age or medical condition.
  • Women in an advanced stage of pregnancy.
  • Passengers travelling with dependents who may require help in an emergency.
  • Customers travelling with pets in the cabin.
  • People who are taking medication that could affect their ability to meet the requirements.

If you are travelling with infants or small children, we recommend you check-in at the airport check-in desks. Here we will be able to give you and your family your boarding passes as well as your seat allocations.

To reserve your seat, please contact our customer service team or speak to a member of staff at the check-in desk and present them with your card.

Terms and conditions for purchasing an advanced seat assignment

  • Purchasing an advanced seat assignment is optional and subject to seating availability at the time of the request. It applies exclusively to individual passengers with a previously issued ticket and is available up to 24 hours before scheduled departure. Seats may be selected free of charge within 24 hours of scheduled flight departure.
  • Iberia Express may block a certain number of seats up to three days before the flight departure for operational reasons and for passengers with special needs (adults travelling with babies, unaccompanied minors, special groups, passengers with a physical disability, etc.).
  • The reservation and use of the seat cannot be transferred voluntarily to another passenger.
  • No deductions are applied for residents or large families as this is a voluntary option for passengers.
  • The cost of purchasing an advanced seat assignment includes all applicable taxes.

 

Guarantee of use

  • Iberia Express may modify seat assignments due to operational, security or management reasons.
  • If extraordinary circumstances require that you change your seat after it has been reserved/purchased, we will try to offer you an alternative seat equivalent to the one you reserved. You can request a refund if an equivalent alternative is unavailable.

 

Changes

  • You may not change your choice of seat until 24 hours before the flight’s scheduled departure once a seat assignment has been purchased.
  • If the fare conditions of your ticket allow changes and you decide to change your flight, you will be able to select an equivalent seat on your new flight. If there is no equivalent seat available or you change to a cheaper seat, the extra amount paid will not be reimbursed. If the seat selected on the new flight is more expensive, you must pay the difference.

 

Reimbursements

The cost of an advanced seat assignment will not be refunded if you cancel your flight, get an upgrade courtesy of Iberia Express or fail to meet the requirements for the type of seat selected.

The cost of an advanced seat assignment will be refunded if:

  • A circumstance arises that requires you to change aircraft and we are unable to offer you an equivalent alternative seat on the new flight and/or aircraft.
  • An unexpected circumstance occurs after having purchased an advanced seating assignment that prevents you from meeting the physical requirements for occupying that seat. You must notify Iberia Express at least 48 hours before the scheduled departure time and shall, in any event, provide evidence documenting the circumstance at a later time.
  • You have upgraded to a fare type that includes free advanced seat selection after purchasing an advanced seat assignment.
  • All requests to refund a seat assignment made directly on iberiaexpress.com or via the Iberia Express telephone booking service must be handled by the Iberia Express Customer Service team. Refunds may not be requested at airports or on board the aircraft.
  • The deadline for applying for a refund is 14 days after the last flight on your itinerary.
  • Refunds will always be made via the same form of payment used to purchase an original seat assignment.
