  • Ciutadella

    burdeos

Located on the western edge of the island, this is Menorca's most populous city. Among its many attractions for tourists are the stately architecture and the narrow streets of its historic old town. A visit to its Gothic cathedral is a must, built on the site of a mosque between the 13th and 14th centuries. The Plaza de Borne is another essential sight: the Obelisk commemorates the defence of the city against Turkish invasion in 1558. Ciutadella, meanwhile, offers visitors an emblematic port with many restaurants.

  • Mahon

    cork

This is the capital of Menorca and its second most populous city. The municipality of Mahón is home to the most easterly point in all of Spain. Part of its allure is that it has one of the best natural ports in the world and one of great historical interest, having been a strategic naval base for many foreign navies. In Mahón you can't miss the Bastion de Sant Roc, the remains of the main gate of the city's defensive walls. Nor should you leave without visiting the Fortaleza de la Mola, an iconic piece of 19th century military architecture.

  • The Beaches

    rennes

Menorca is justly proud of its many coves beaches of white sand and tranquil waters. One of the most typical is Cala Macarella which adorns many Menorca postcards. Its smaller and more compact neighbour, Cala Macarelleta, is the nudist beach par excellence. Another favourite is the recondite Cala Turqueta. Although it appears wild and unspoiled, it does have a lifeguard and is perfect for bathing
